Details
The Amsterdam based usability startup Usabilla has been making impressive progress since their launch nearly six months ago. The small team behind this startup developed a product that is praised by usability experts and designers because of its simplicity and usefulness. Usabilla's online usability tests have been tested by more than 2500 companies in the United States, Europe and South America.

Usabilla is launching paid accounts today and starts smoothly with an interesting list of launching customers. Leading usability companies in Europe and the United States have been using Usabilla's online research tool to test the user-friendliness of websites remotely.
Usabilla now removes the 'beta' label and launches more extensive accounts for paying customers. Paul Veugen, founder of Usabilla on this official launch: "The past months we have been working hard to develop our product. Our tests help to gain more insight in the visitors of your webpage and directly add extra value. We've been running some really interesting pilots and now it's time to launch our new accounts for everyone." Usabilla is going to offer a freemium business model for their customers. Users can use a limited account to collect feedback for free, for more extensive tests users can upgrade their account to a plan between 49 and 950 dollar a year.

In Europe Usabilla has been discovered as an interesting alternative for expensive lab studies. Companies like Thomas Cook, Booking.com, ABN Amro, Dutch National television NOS, and Nokaut.pl have been using Usabilla to involve users to share feedback on new products or services. Around 50 percent of Usabilla's beta users is currently located in the United States. Usabilla tests are being used by an impressive list of usability experts, among them teams of SnagaJob and Bolt | Peters.

Paul Veugen is positive about the future: "In less than 6 months we grew from zero to 2500 accounts. For next year we'll be aiming at 10.000 accounts. We hope to tempt a small percentage of these users to upgrade to a paid plan."
Quotes
Usabilla continues to improve with each version. They're listening to feedback and responding to feature requests. The promise of doing remote usability testing with a tool like Usabilla is not that it will replace formal usability testing. But it fills a gap by providing a service to those who want to do many small tests...

The way it all works is quite ingenious if you think about it, as developers can create tests and add the prototypical questions such as "What's important for you on this page?", "What do you like?", or "Where would you click for information about X?". The cool bit is that users answer these questions by putting points and notes directly on top of a screenshot, mockup, sketch or image.
